CENTURY 21 Affiliated President to be Announced as the 2015 WRA Chairman

Mark your calendar for the 2014 WRA Annual Convention on September 21-22nd, the WRA’s showcase event of the year where hundreds of REALTORS® gather from all corners of the state. This year’s convention will be extra special for our CENTURY 21 Affiliated Wisconsin Agents as the WRA welcomes our President, Dan Kruse, as the 2015 WRA Chairman.

Dan graduated from the University of Minnesota in housing and business management. Dan is actively involved in both the WRA and his local board, RASCW. With the WRA, he serves on the Political Strategy, Public Policy, Wisconsin Homeowners Alliance and Executive committees and served as chairman of the 2013 Strategic Planning Committee.

We sat down with Dan regarding the steps he took to becoming the WRA Chairman.

C21A: Congratulations on being named the 2015 WRA Chairman! How did you get nominated?

DK: The WRA is made up of a Board of Directors and I have sat on that board since 2008. The Board of Directors has a nominating committee where they are always looking for new leadership. I was fortunate to join the leadership committee as the Treasurer for the WRA in 2012-2013. In 2013 into 2014 I was the Chair Elect and chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee. From there I was elected and fortunate to be nominated as the 2015 WRA Chairman.

C21A: To be elected you have to differentiate yourself. What did the Board of Directors look for when electing the Chairman of the Board?

DK: The votes are looked on from your experience, community, and real estate involvement. Through my involvement in local real estate associations like the  Rock Green REALTORS Association prior to my involvement in the WRA, being heavily involved in real estate and community matters throughout the state of Wisconsin, and our company being a state wide association contributed to my nomination and election.

C21A: How do you feel about the upcoming year as the WRA chairman?

DK: It’s great I am very excited about the upcoming year. I think it is more of a powerful organization with 13,000 members. Our association has an unbelievable staff. One thing I have learned from upcoming ranks is just the amount of impact that we have from legislative to the protection of homeowner’s rights, to being able to constantly provide tools and systems to our members such as our hotlines. Being a part of the WRA gets us involved in the National REALTOR Association (NRA). It’s great to know our voice is heard not only on a statewide level but also a national level.

C21A: What are you most excited about in your role as the WRA chairman?

DK: It’s tons of fun, lots of work, but I'm excited to travel throughout the state and meet others in the industry. Our industry is one of those very rare industries that we have to cooperate with our competition, and this position gives me the opportunity to meet and work with people we are in competition with.
