Parks & Recreation

Joliet offers an abundance of opportunities for family fun, date nights, and group outings. For the golf lovers, Joliet offers four golf courses (InwoodWoodruffWedgewood, and the Joliet Country Club), and two miniature golf courses. Other outdoor activities include Pilcher Park and The Pilcher Park Nature Center which hosts many youth and educational programs. Hammel Woods is also located in Joliet with miles of hiking trails and a seven acre dog park. Bicyclists also have several miles of bike trail options that wind throughout Joliet.


Nicknamed “City of Champions” for its numerous state and national titles, Joliet’s high schools have been a powerhouse in both football and band for many years. In fact, Joliet Catholic Academy has more state football titles than any other team in the state. When football is no longer in season sports fans can cheer on the Joliet Slammers, Joliet’s own minor league baseball team at Silver Cross Field. Chicagoland Speedway hosts annual events from NASCAR and the IRL. Next door to the Speedway, the Route 66 Raceway features National Hot Rod Association events on its strip.
