Mount Horeb Real Estate Listings and Information

Mount Horeb

Rich in Norwegian history, Mount Horeb proudly wears the name “Troll Capital of the World.” Around many corners of this quaint downtown, you will find a troll on display at various restaurants, Victorian homes, galleries, or antique malls.

Despite the obvious Norwegian look, the village of Mount Horeb was actually established in the 1860’s and named after Englishman George Wright professed the beauty of the hilly landscape to liken that of the biblically referenced “Mount Horeb.” By the 1880’s over 75% of the population was Norwegian.

There are truly so many attractions and festivals in this town, that it would be difficult to name them all. One must see is the Cave of The Mounds, where you can search for buried treasures, tour the cave, or hike/bike the paths. Mount Horeb and nearby Blue Mounds also feature several county parks and a State park. For the cold weather crowd, enjoy a little skiing or snowboarding at Tyrol Basin. For a drink and good meal afterwards, visit The Grumpy Troll Brew Pub. Please click on the links below for even more information on this wonderful village.
