From my partners at CIC!!
Do you own or live in a 1-4 unit building in the Chatham neighborhood? If so, we have great news! You may qualify for a free energy assessment and an energy efficiency grant under the City of Chicago's Micro Market Recovery Program (MMRP)!
The city is partnering with nonprofit Elevate Energy to offer free energy assessments in 13 target areas, including sections of Chatham bounded by South Cottage Grove on the west, the railroad to the east, East 79th Street to the north, and East 83rd Street to the south.
The assessments include an on-site review of the building and a report that recommends practical, cost-effective home improvements that increase comfort and reduce energy bills.
Income-qualified homeowners will have access to an MMRP Energy Efficiency Forgivable Loan of up to $5,000 to cover the cost of the home improvements. The most common energy efficiency improvements are attic insulation and air-sealing to prevent the loss of heated or cooled air.
It gets even better! There is no application deadline or fees related to this program, however, don't waist any time, start the application NOW! Completed applications are accepted until funding has been exhausted and if anyone tells you that you have to pay a fee to participate, call "311" and report them.
Applicants must meet certain income limits and be current on City of Chicago property taxes, water bills, and parking tickets. If you don't own a home, spread the word and let friends, family, or neighbors know about this great opportunity!
Start saving energy and applying cost-effective improvements in your home today!
