As all of us who live in the Midwest know, winter can seem to last forever. For many Indiana natives, one of the first signs of spring comes (most years even before the snow melts) with the yearly occurrence of the Fort Wayne Home and Garden Show. This year it makes its appearance from February 25th through February 28th.
For many, the Fort Wayne Home and Garden Show is a time to get excited about home improvement. Rows and rows of opportunities line the room with over 650 exhibits to see. Although they are large ideas such as painting the inside or outside of your house, remodeling your floors, and adding on to the back porch, there are also many ideas of a smaller scale. These smaller scale projects may include adding customized shelving, hanging organizational bins in the laundry room, and upgrading knobs on cabinets.
All of these projects are taken on with a common purpose and theme – to make your house feel more like your home. These home projects I am talking about are often fun and quite manageable. They are a way to make a big difference with only a small amount of money. However, more often than not, these types of projects are put on the back burner or even on hold completely, especially if you know you will be moving eventually. The logic for delaying all of these kinds of projects is usually; we will wait until our next home, our “forever home”.
If you plan on attending the Fort Wayne Home and Garden show this year, make sure you are giving ample consideration to your future purchase plans. You want to pick projects that make your current home more marketable and increase in value when you go to list it. You may also be inspired to start looking for that next home sooner rather than later. When that inspiration hits, give me a call right away. As I mentioned in my blog last week, winter can be the best time of year to purchase a home for many reasons. Why delay looking for your next home any longer? You may even be moved into your new home just in time to put some of those excellent home and garden show ideas into practice. Taking possession of a new home in the next few months will ensure you are settled in just in time for spring. Mulch companies, greenhouse vendors, and landscapers are also found at the show and can be a great way to help start spring off right.
I am ready to help you buy your next home in the North East Indiana area. Call me at 260-740-HOME (4663) to start scoping out the Northeast Indiana Real Estate market and see how soon you can be starting those exciting home improvement projects!
