NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE 2016
MISS MERRY CHRISTMAS AND JACK FROST
The 2015 Winter Lights Court
AURORA, IL - Nominations are now open for the 2016 Miss Merry Christmas and Jack Frost contest. The contest, an Aurora tradition for more than 50 years, is open to residents between the ages of 4 and 7 years old.
 
SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS 
Parents can enter their child by submitting a photo with the following information: name, age, birthday, parent/guardian name, address, email and phone number, written on the back of the photo.
 
Hard copies of photos must be delivered during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to the City of Aurora Community Relations Office, 5 E. Downer Place, Suite A, located at the corner of Downer Place and Stolp Avenue.
 
The deadline to submit nominations is Wednesday, October 19 at 3:00 p.m.
 
VOTING FOR SEMI-FINALISTS 
Six boys and six girls will be chosen as semi-finalists, and those photos will be published in The Beacon-News on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016.
 
Community members can vote by submitting ballots that will be printed in the Beacon News from Sunday, Oct. 23 through Wednesday, Nov. 2. Those ballots must be received in the City of Aurora Special Events Office at the addressed listed above by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4. Only official original newspaper ballots will be accepted.
 
While all 12 semi-finalists will be part of the 2016 Winter Lights Court, the top three vote earners in each category will be the 2016 finalists and entered into a random drawing that will crown the 2016 Miss Merry Christmas and Jack Frost. The drawing will be held during a City Council meeting Council on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at City Hall.
 
WINTER LIGHTS PARADE 
Miss Merry Christmas and Jack Frost will lead the City of Aurora's Winter Lights Parade and assist in lighting Aurora's official Christmas tree during the Winter Lights celebration, which begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18, in downtown Aurora.
