A Strong Housing Market Predicted for 2016

Gazing at the stars

The housing market is in a three-year recovery mode as prices continue to rise, buyers continue to book showings, and new home construction begins to add more inventory. As 2015 draws to a close, it’s good to know that 2016 will continue to deliver strong housing numbers.  Fannie Mae is predicting solid gains in the 2016 housing market.

Home prices increased about 20% from the first quarter of 2011 to the fourth quarter of 2014, according to Fannie Mae. That means, buyers have been creating value by steadily purchasing homes lifting us from the bottom of the 2008 housing market crash. With the dark days behind us, mortgage rates are expected to increase in December 2015 as more Americans find jobs and wages grow. New home construction is expected to surpass its 2015 level, and home sales should spike to more than 6 million by the end of 2016, according to Fannie Mae.
