ANNUAL ART IN THE PARK FESTIVAL NEXT WEEKEND
The third annual Art in the Park Festival will take place 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 14, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 15 at Mastodon Lake, in the west recreation area of Phillips Park in Aurora. Admission is free.
The festival features nearly a dozen local artists exhibiting and selling their work, live music, food vendors and wine tasting from the Fox Valley Winery.
Live music on Saturday will include original classic rock Americana from Dan Becker and the Tourists from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and soul, funk and R&B from The Urban Grove Experience from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday, The Town Band will play Souza and other inspiring patriotic music from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., local singers and songwriters Leah & Mike will perform from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and The Urban Groove experience returns from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Entrance to the wine garden, with prime seating for enjoying live entertainment, will cost just $10 and includes a souvenir wine glass and five tasting tickets. Wine is available by the glass to enjoy on the site, or by the bottle to take home.
This year’s Art in the Park is sponsored by the City of Aurora, Hollywood Casino Aurora, Sam’s Club, and Fox Valley Winery.
Don’t miss the Illinois Paddlesports Festival
The sixth annual Illinois Paddlesports Festival will take place at Mastodon Lake in conjunction with Art in the Park on both days. Take a free canoe or kayak lesson, try out the latest paddle craft from local retailers and watch the skill competitions. Free overnight camping is available for Illinois Paddlesports Festival participants. The Illinois Paddlesports Festival is sponsored by the Illinois Paddling Council and the City of Aurora.
