ONE WEEK LEFT TO EXCHANGE CARTS FOR FREE
Residents have until Dec. 18 to exchange trash & recycling carts
The City of Aurora is reminding residents that there is one week left to exchange new trash and recycling carts for a different option without a fee. The deadline for the free exchange is Friday, December 18.

New trash and recycling carts were distributed throughout the summer and fall. Residents have the option of three different trash cart sizes and two different recycling cart sizes. In addition, households that produce a low volume of trash may opt for twice-a-month collection at a lower cost, and senior households have the option to purchase rolls of bags for a reduced price in lieu of a trash cart

Residents are encouraged to make the switch to the collection option that best meets their needs by Friday, Dec. 18. After that date, Republic Services will charge a fee to exchange carts.

The cost of each option is:
  • 35 gallons: $10.30 a month
  • 65 gallons: $13.25 a month
  • 95 gallons: $19.05 a month
  • Low-Volume Program:  $8.80 a month- includes collection of a 35-gallon cart just twice a month instead of weekly
  • Senior Orange Bag Program: $1.40 each 14-gallon bag available in rolls of 20 at retailers throughout the City of Aurora.
To exchange carts or to sign up for the low-volume or senior orange bag program, call Republic Services directly at 630-892-9294 prior to Friday, December 18.

Residents are also reminded that Republic Services sends bills for trash collection services quarterly. To date, two bills have been mailed: the first pro-rated based on cart delivery and the second for service from October through December.

To view electronic bills, residents can visit www.republicservices.com or download the Republic Services MyResource app, available for iPhone and Android smartphones, in the Apple App store or in the Google Play store.

Additional information can be obtained by calling Republic Services at 630-892-9294, Aurora's Customer Service at 630-256-INFO or online at aurora-il.org/trashtalk.
