In an effort to prepare residents for emergencies, the City of Aurora will host four Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training classes this year.

All trainings will be held at the City of Aurora Emergency Management Center, 1100 Mitchell Road.
 
Classes are FREE and are open to ages 14 and older.  Students age 14 and 15 must attend with a parent or guardian. Students age 16 and 17 may attend with either a parent or guardian or a signed release form from a parent or guardian.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM
2015 CERT Class learns how to extinguish fires
Aurora -- In an effort to prepare residents for emergencies, the City of Aurora will host four Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training classes this year.
 
CERT students make a difference in their communities by learning to care for themselves, their neighbors, and the public at-large in the first three days following a major disaster.  Students learn fire suppression including fire extinguisher training, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue operations, pre- and post-storm CERT operations, and general disaster preparedness.
 
The classes consist of 26 total hours of training and are being held on various days and times to better meet the schedules of people who may be interested in participating.
 
The 2016 CERT class dates:
 
CERT Class #1:
From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, March 29, April 5, 12, 19, 26, and May 3; and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 7
 
CERT Class #2:
From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays, June 6, 13, 20, 27, July 11 and 18; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 23
 
CERT Class #3:
From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Aug. 18, 25, Sept. 1, 8, 15 and 22; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24
 
CERT Class #4:
From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays, October 7 and 14; and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16
 
All trainings will be held at the City of Aurora Emergency Management Center, 1100 Mitchell Road.

After successful completion of this class students will have the opportunity to apply to become members of Aurora's CERT Team, which meets regularly and volunteers at City of Aurora events.
