MID-WEEK FARMERS MARKETS OPEN THIS WEEK
Farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, tasty products, artisan crafts, and other delectable items will be available on the Far East and Far West sides of the City this week as Aurora’s Mid-Week Farmers Markets make their debut for 2014.

Aurora’s Farmers Market West will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. each Wednesday through September 10 at West Aurora Plaza, 1901 W. Galena Blvd.; while the Farmers Market East will be staged every Thursday through August 28, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 701 S. Eola Rd., adjacent to the Eola Community Center.

Both markets feature many of the same amenities as the City’s downtown Farmers Market which is held on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to noon at the Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway Ave.

Like the downtown market, the mid-week Farmers Markets offer opportunities for Aurora area youth.

Through the market’s Young Entrepreneur’s Program, youngsters have the chance to sell handcrafts, homegrown fruits and vegetables, and other products they produce.  They will not only earn money for their goods, but will also learn valuable social and business skills, including marketing, merchandising, and networking in a fun and interactive environment.

More information on the markets is available by emailing farmersmarket@aurora-il.org or calling Special Events at (630) 256-3370.
