Parks & Recreation

Wanatah has many opportunities for recreational activites; there are a variety of clubs to join for community involvement including 4-H, the Lion's Club, as well as Boy Scouts. Wanatah also has two parks available for everyday public use, but both can also be rented out for special events. 

Lion's Park is in the southeast corner of Wanatah, it is home to a large grassy area, a walking track, as well as a playground. There is also the Wm. F. Hunt Memorial Park which is located in the northwest corner of town. This park also features a nice shaded grass area perfect for picnics and playground equiptment for children to enjoy.

Annual Festivals

Every year from June 12th through the 14th, Wanatah hosts a town-wide garage sale, which has been a tradition for over 20 years! Wanatah also features the annual Scarecrow Festival, which has entertainment for the whole family! With arts and crafts, a pork chop dinner, fish fry, and pancaked breakfast, as well as scarecrow sculpting. The Scarecrow Festival is anticipated every year!


The Wanatah Area covers both the Cass and Clinton townships. The South Central Community School enrolls students north of the Highway 30 dividing line, and offers a K-12 education. Those who find themselves in the Cass township, south of Highway 30, will enroll in Wanatah Elementary and Middleschool, a part of the Tri-Township Corporation, from K-8.
